Hi, I'm Ewan Blyth
Impact Entrepreneur, Investor in Change & Walking the Wilder Path
01 THE EXPECTED PATH
HE FOLLOWED IT.
FOR A WHILE.
Engineering degree.
International consulting.
Leading design teams on major infrastructure projects across India and Southeast Asia. The credentials were real and the work was genuinely challenging.
But competence without purpose has a ceiling — and a voice I'd been ignoring for years grew too loud to push back down.
So I left.
Not recklessly. Deliberately.
That decision began years of purposeful exploration that took me from boardrooms in Kuala Lumpur to the earth's furthest edges. Literally.
02 Time in the wilderness
cold places.
it turns out.
After retraining and upskilling, I found myself leading guests into the world's most remote environments. Antarctica. The High Arctic. Remote Pacific islands.
For over a decade, I guided 10,000+people to the polar regions safely and undertook and self-filmed, a two-week sea kayaking expedition in Antarctica that became an award-winning documentary.
I was also a founding industry assessor of the Polar Tourism Guides Association — helping build the professional standards for an entire industry.
Those years didn't just build resilience. They built a particular kind of leadership: calm under pressure, clear in complexity, and deeply human in the hardest moments.
03 when the expeditions stopped
A different kind of work began.
When COVID grounded global expeditions in 2020, I didn't pause. I turned toward something I'd been thinking about for a long time: building something that genuinely serves people.
The direction became clear through experience I'd rather not have had. Over several years my family navigated a series of life transitions — a parent's move to aged care, an estate to manage, an in-law's downsizing — each involving property that needed to be sold in a time of overwhelm.
What struck me every time was the gap. Families were expected to manage enormous emotional weight alongside enormous logistical complexity, with almost no professional support that could carry the full burden.
My co-founder had lived the same experience. And out of that shared understanding, Harrington Road was born — not as a property company, but as the service we wished had existed for our own families.

If you were to look for a definition of an INFJ (Advocate) on the Myer-Briggs test, you may find me. Tasmanian, in my happy place in the wilderness, a kitchen or anywhere close to a spreadsheet and usually found with multiple layers of merino clothing attached to me.

As a young professional…
...I had an urge to cast away my engineering career and do, well, I actually had no idea. But I just knew that my purpose wasn't fully being served, and despite how many times I locked the inner voice in the cupboard under the stairs, it kept escaping. Despite the valuable skills being gained from learning my craft in consulting engineering, finally, I attuned to my inner voice and took heed.
It turns out my advocacy personality also needed to be heard…
...and so I turned to the entrepreneurial stage, a stage where I felt the freedom to pursue that which fulfills the soul. Always with a challenge, always with questions, rarely comfortable.
